Referee Mailing List

Once again, we'll be using a list server to consolidate and manage email addresses.  Amazingly, there are over 100 referees on this list!  Please take a moment to check your information and make any updates by following the link to the mailing list.  Again this year, we'll be using the list to discuss the following:
  • General Announcements
  • Law Interpretations and Discussions
  • Updates from that weekend's games
  • Scheduling
The best thing about this list server is that you can manage your own account.  At the bottom of each email, you'll find a link to the mailing list server.  Alternatively, you can click here to go to the mailing list information page.

Volunteer Forms!!!

If you have not yet turned in your volunteer form (both youth and adults), please do so immediately!  The form must be completed every season in order to ensure liability coverage.  It's simple to do.  Just go to the eAYSO Web Site and follow the instructions.  Once you've filled out the form, send it to the following address:

San Carlos AYSO
P.O. Box 1462
San Carlos, CA  94070
Game Cards - drop them off here

Although Keith has gone into retirement, his mailbox has not.  Please continue to drop game cards off at his house. A link to his address and a map of the location is in the heading to this section.

Coaches should be filling out the game cards prior to the start of the game.  When you get the game card, please check a few things:
  • Players are listed in NUMERICAL order!
  • Only mark players that are "out"
  • Player in/out should be in pencil
  • Team name, number, etc. are on the card and LEGIBLE!
The game cards are also your way to communicate with the Referee Administration Team and the Board.  If you have any issues (both good and bad), please note them on the game card so that we can take the appropriate action.  Some examples of things to note on the game cards:
  • Field issues (paint lines, torn nets, etc.)
  • Coach or parent issues (language, behaviour)
  • Failure to follow substitution regulations
  • Injuries - please note name of player, time, and nature of injury
  • Cautions and Send-Offs
I do take a look at the game cards at the end of the weekend and if there are any issues, I will certainly do my best to take appropriate action.

Game Day Procedures

There are only a few things to remember on Game Day, but they're important ones:
  • Be on time (20 - 30 minutes early)!
  • Check the field and equipment.  Get the coaches to help you correct them and note any "unresolvable issues" on the game card
  • Check in the players and their equipment
  • Come dressed to ref - in the proper uniform!
Remember, we rely heavily on the referees to ensure we stay on schedule and that everything is in proper order to have a safe, fair and fun game.

Cautions and Send-Offs - (U16/U19 click here)

In the event that you caution (yellow card) or send off (red card) a player, you need to do some paperwork.
  • Note the incident on the game card - player name & number, time, reason
  • Send Darin Allen an email with the details of the incident.
  • Include your phone number in the email
  • For red cards, you need to fill out this form Coaches Binder
  • Do this within 24 hours!  Preferably, same day!
Yellow and red cards are serious business and we need to be able to react quickly when something happens.  Please be timely in reporting them to me so that Diane can deal with them appropriately.
